From July 2 until July 4, 2008 the 15th BREAD & BUTTER "tradeshow for selected brands" takes place in Barcelona. As the leading international specialist trade fairs for Street and Urban Wear, BREAD & BUTTER BARCELONA represents a marketing and communication platform for brands, labels and designers from the areas of Denim, Sportswear, Street Fashion, Function Wear and Casual Dressed Up, as well as for suppliers from the preliminary stage of the textile industry. Like no other event, the "tradeshow for selected brands" reflects the culture and brand philosophy of its exhibitors: the brands exhibiting at BREAD & BUTTER present themselves according to their brand direction with their complete versatility.
In July 2001, the first BREAD & BUTTER was launched in Cologne with 50 exhibitors and 5.000 visitors as a parallel event to the „Herrenmodewoche (Men's Fashion Week) / InterJeans". After three events and becoming more and more internationally oriented, BREAD & BUTTER moved from Cologne to Berlin, which offered plenty of room for development. July 2005 was the next milestone: With two major equal events in Barcelona followed by Berlin two weeks later, BBB started to cover the complete European market by establishing a north-south axis. Since July 2007 Barcelona is the sole BREAD & BUTTER tradeshow location in Europe and the show is bigger since ever: Almost 100,000 visitors from over 100 countries and 1,000 exhibiting brands in January 2008 speak for themselves.
But BREAD & BUTTER is not only growing - it's innovative again. With THE SOURCE a compliment format to the trade fair will be launched. THE SOURCE gives the industry of the preliminary stage a platform to exhibit their latest innovations and products. With the new BREAD & BUTTER format fashion production will be presented in a vertical direction fort he first time. „ With THE SOURCE, the circle will be closed: from textile production to designed collections" says BREAD & BUTTER. THE SOURCE is furthermore hosting B&B Design.
With B&B Design BREAD & BUTTER supports young design talents at both national and international levels. Through the organisation of temporary artistic and creative events such as the B&B Design Exhibition, the B&B Design Graduation Show or the B&B Barcelona Tour, BREAD & BUTTER makes a new commitment to aspiring artists each season. This time the B&B Design Exhibition showcases the work of graduates from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, one of the top schools worldwide in fashion design. The B&B Design Graduation Tour in Barcelona brings together the freshest and most promising proposals from 9 local fashion and design schools. 45 candidates, 5 from each of the participating schools, select one of their graduation pieces to showcase in 45 locations across the city. The range of locations includes multi-label shops, lifestyle stores, hotels and restaurants, with each location featuring a mannequin displaying one look by the participating designers.
