Friday morning started with an absolutely highlight and a fireworks of coloures! Basso & Brooke showcased on this Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week a retroperspective of their last four years. The label is founded by the English Christopher Brooke, 34, a fashion graduate of the renowned Central Saint Martins and the 29-years-old Bruno Basso, a Brazilian Graphic Designer. Basso & Brooke are the winners of the prestigious London’s Fashion Fringe 2004 Award.
After winning the award in 2004, Basso & Brooke presented their first on-schedule show at London Fashion Week entitled The Succubus and Other Tales. If the Fashion Fringe collection represented sexual freedom, AW 05 was its counterpoint. Using mediaeval imagery and regal graphics against soft drapery and streamlined tailoring, Succubus evoked repressed erocticism.
Basso & Brooke compose in a creative and intercultural symbiosis sensational fashion. Their creation is often dominated by amorphous shapes, which are accentuated by the use of outlandish prints, draperies and colours. Numerous prices and co-operations e.g. Swarovski demonstrate their success. Furthermore they set already a monument in fashion history, because the Metropolitan Museum of New York contained the finale outfits of Autumn/Winter 2005 for their permanent costume collection.
